Solihull 2023 Games

What a weekend of football that was!! The Irish Transplant Team headed over to Solihull in Birmingham full of excitement (and nerves!), not knowing what to expect from their British counterparts but my god did the lads put on a show in their inaugural transplant football appearance. It was an early start for everyone, facilities at The ARMCO Arena were absolutely fantastic. A massive thank you goes out to Transplant Sports UK for a wonderful tournament and for being kind enough to invite our team over to compete.

The lads did a fantastic job to reach the final, they drew two games and won two games on their run to the final to face off against a very strong Nottingham team. By the time our lads reached the final we unfortunately just ran out of steam, with a smaller squad than expected the 4 games in a row was just a bit too much for the boys! The showed so much heart and determination and did not only themselves, but their country and donors proud. What a start to this wonderful journey for this team….. we can’t wait to get back together and start training again and get ourselves prepared for the British Games this coming July in Coventry.
